McDonald’s Boys & Girls All-American Selection Committee Member hosts All-Star Weekend Basketball Tournament in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS— Each year Coach John Lucas, through his foundation, John Lucas Enterprises, selects a city to hosts his annual invitation only showcase tournament for boys and girls grades second thru eighth. For the second year in a row, New Orleans has been chosen to hosts the annual John Lucas All-Star Weekend Tournament February 20—February 22, 2015 at the Alario Center.
The All-Star Weekend Tournament showcases teams from all over the country and beyond. It is open to boys and girls of age divisions 2nd thru 8th grade. Each year a few premiere players make an appearance and start their careers at the All-Star Weekend Tournament long before they become nationally recognized and later McDonalds’s All Americans. This tournament offers a platform for teams to take their skills to the next level. While this tournament is being designed to change location each year so more teams have an opportunity to participate, New Orleans was favored and personally requested as a location by many previously participating teams.
There is a mandatory team check-in Friday 20, 2015 at the Alario Center in which coaches participate in a small meet-and-greet and are served a small hospitality meal. Each team is guaranteed 3 games.
